Coorg
Or Kodagu, as it’s locally known, is set amidst the Sahyadris or Western Ghats that’s an important and world-renowned biodiversity hotspot. In Coorg, the Western Ghats’ main range extends from Subramanya in the northwest to the Brahmagiris in the south covering a little over 100 kilometres. The Brahmagiris or Marenad Hills form a natural barrier between Coorg and Wayanad in Kerala. Coorg is a truly fascinating place that’s been labelled the Scotland of India. Not sure why and what resemblance the place bears to the land of the Scots but Coorg can hold its own without inane comparisons to other places. The eco system is fragile and visitors need to understand this and act responsibly.
